Podcast charts

Across the charts is three charts read on the same morning — Apple Podcasts’ top hundred, Pocket Casts’ top hundred and Audible’s top fifty — and added up: a show’s standing on each, as a fraction of that chart’s depth, summed. So a show near the top of all three sits above one at the top of two, and the three standings are printed beside every row so the sum can be checked or disagreed with. Audible alone would have missed 100 of these shows entirely; that is what the other two charts are for. The whole chart, and how it is made →

The other three shelves are Audible’s. Audible files podcasts in the same 21 categories as its audiobooks, so these shelves are the ones you already know. What is not the same is the ordering: Audible will sort shows by its own popularity and by average score, and nothing else — there is no “new this week” for a thing that publishes weekly, and its rating sort inside a category returns shows two people have scored. So Most listened to is Audible’s ordering as it arrived, and the other two shelves are this site regrouping those same shows: by score, with a floor under it, and by the date of the last episode.

That last one is the shelf worth having. A podcast that stopped in 2024 and one that published this morning look identical everywhere else, and both are on these charts.
