Rather than asking the Bible to conform to modern assumptions, this study examines its ancient Hebraic context to recover perspectives often overlooked in contemporary biblical interpretation.Written by disabled U.S. military veteran, ordained minister, teacher, graphic designer, and award-winning author Benjamin N. Carrasquillo Jr., the original 894-page work draws upon extensive historical research, ancient Near Eastern cultural studies, Hebraic language, and biblical narrative analysis. This abridged audiobook edition, narrated by the author, presents all seven sections and 98 chapters in approximately 23½ hours of accessible, teaching-oriented narration. Rather than a word-for-word reading of the printed edition, each chapter provides a focused examination of its central subject, preserving the essential teaching and historical context.More than a devotional guide, this study explores how honor and shame, communal identity, covenantal relationships, Hebraic idioms, and the ancient Near Eastern worldview influenced the understanding of Scripture among its original audiences. In this audiobook, you will explore:•How the ancient Yisra'elite worldview differs from modern Western assumptions.•Why honor, shame, covenant, kinship, and communal ethics matter when interpreting Scripture.•How Hebrew language, idioms, and cultural expressions influence biblical meaning.•The role of patterns, cycles, and narrative structures in biblical literature.•The distinction between covenantal relationships and modern contractual thinking.•How historical and cultural context can illuminate familiar biblical passages.Ideal for listeners who:•Want to understand Scripture within its ancient historical and cultural setting.•Teach or participate in Bible studies, small groups, or discipleship programs.•Are exploring the Hebraic roots of biblical faith.•Seek a deeper understanding beyond conventional commentary.•Are interested in how ancient cultural values shaped biblical narratives and ethics.Includes a companion PDF study guide featuring selected maps, charts, illustrations, tables, and visual references designed to complement the audio teachings. With an academic documentary approach and a conversational teaching style, Through the Lens of an Ancient Yisra'elite Bible Study offers an extensive listening experience for those seeking to examine Scripture through the cultural and historical world of ancient Yisra'el.The original book has received recognition from Kirkus Reviews, Readers' Favorite, Foreword Clarion Reviews, BlueInk Review, The Prairies Book Review, BookView Review, and multiple national and international book award programs.
