The Impossible Turn

Packed with hilarity, action, and suspense, The Impossible Turn marks the eighth installment of Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Freed’s acclaimed Cordell Logan series.

An infamous international arms dealer is found murdered in the hills above an ancient village in northern Italy, just miles from his lakeside villa. Days later, in sunny Rancho Bonita, California, flight instructor and former covert government operator Cordell Logan receives a life-altering phone call.

It’s from a probate attorney in Los Angeles. The lawyer’s client? None other than the very same notorious arms dealer, Elijah Mecklenburg, who eerily predicted his own violent demise—correctly, as it turns out. Days before his death, Mecklenburg named Logan as the sole beneficiary of his multi-million-dollar estate. But there’s a catch: Logan must identify Mecklenburg’s killer within two weeks, or the fortune vanishes.

Italian authorities claim they have no leads. But Logan isn’t convinced. The list of people who wanted Mecklenburg dead is long—and each has a compelling motive.

The race to catch the killer thrusts Logan into a high-stakes journey, filled with relentless suspense, covert operations, and heart-pounding danger that forces him to confront a past he’s tried desperately to leave behind.
