The Burrow Map of Dustroot Plain

Beneath Dustroot Plain lies an ancient web of cool tunnels that carries rainwater from the red hills to every den, nest, and seed bed. The mongooses have guarded these passages for generations, but they have grown proud of knowing routes that no one else understands.

When a disciplined band of sewer rats arrives from the abandoned mill, they begin seizing junctions, charging food tolls, and turning neighbors against one another. Young mongoose Nilo discovers that the invaders' strength comes not only from their numbers, but from the secrecy surrounding the plain's hidden water map. Together with his sister Sera, the patient digger Aunt Maru, an owl surveyor, a tortoise gardener, and even a doubtful rat messenger, Nilo must help Dustroot defend itself without becoming as controlling as its enemy.

This continuous fable explores courage, shared knowledge, honest leadership, and the truth that a community is safest when the paths that sustain everyone are understood by more than a few.
