No Excuses

What can a lifetime of hard work and discipline make possible? Mike Stevens rose from humble beginnings in Montana to become the 13th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, the highest enlisted position in the United States Navy. Following more than three decades of military service, he went on to serve twice as a CEO in the private sector, carrying the leadership principles forged throughout his Navy career into the business world.

Across more than four decades of leadership, Stevens learned firsthand that success rarely comes from talent alone. It is built through hard work, discipline, accountability, character, and the choices we make every day.

In No Excuses: The Power of Hard Work & Discipline, Stevens shares the experiences, failures, lessons, and defining moments that shaped his journey and the principles he believes can help anyone achieve more than they thought possible.

This isn't a book about having all the answers. And it isn't a story about taking the easy road. It's about showing up. Working hard. Learning from failure. Taking responsibility. Remaining disciplined. And understanding that the decisions we make every day, often when no one else is watching, ultimately determine who we become.

Through candid stories from more than three decades of service and a lifetime of leadership, Stevens takes listeners inside the experiences that shaped his approach to life and leadership.

At its heart, No Excuses is about something larger than a Navy career. It's about the extraordinary things ordinary people can accomplish when they refuse to make excuses for where they are and instead take responsibility for where they're going.

Whether you're beginning your career, leading an organization, serving your country, raising a family, or simply trying to become a better version of yourself, the principles in No Excuses are straightforward, practical, and timeless.
