Every Living Thing

When Herriot is called out on a spring morning, it feels like vetting at its best: an easy, trouble-free case, a nice farmer and a docile patient who is a picture of equine beauty. But within seconds of administering a new drug, the horse crashes to the ground in front of a shocked owner and vet...As James later considers, there must be easier ways of earning a living than as a country veterinary surgeon. It's24 hours a day, seven days a week, of triumphs, disasters, pride, and sometimes heartache, but he knows he is lucky to be a vet in the Yorkshire Dales.
