Bottle Rocket

Hiring her was supposed to be temporary. Catching feelings? Definitely not in the game plan.

Trey Hartley doesn’t do helpless. Not in combat, not on the ice, and definitely not at home. But when his nanny ghosts him mid-season to backpack through Europe, he’s down a caregiver—with a nine-year-old niece, a packed hockey schedule, and zero backup plan.

Enter Vivi Newport. CEO of Seattle’s top nanny agency. Total boss. And very much off the market.

She hasn’t nannied in over a decade. She’s got a booming business, a complicated fiancé situation, and a strict policy of never stepping into the field. But when her stepsister, Isla Altman, calls in a favor—for Trey, her retired husband’s teammate—Vivi agrees to help. For Adaline. Just for now.

Trey knows he should keep his distance. Vivi’s engaged (sort of), and she’s out of his league. But from the moment she arrives—armed with sharp wit, terrifying spreadsheets, and late-night cocoa rituals—she turns his whole world on its head.

And the longer she stays, the more it feels like she’s the home that’s been missing from their house.

Vivi’s fiancé doesn’t deserve her. Trey knows it. Hell, she might know it too.

Trey's no longer playing nice. He’s here to prove she deserves better—and that he’s it. Because Trey Hartley doesn’t chase.

But for Vivi? He’d burn it all down.
