A Tale of Two Leaders

Being wounded by the misuse and abuse of authority may be the story that you've lived. But it doesn't have to be the legacy that you leave.

The headlines have been brutal of late, laying Christian leadership hypocrisies bare and exposing secret soul-sickness. And the cost to those led is astronomical. The Body of Christ is bleeding . . . from wounds we've inflicted on one another.

In A Tale of Two Leaders, author Alicia Brit Chole invites us on a sobering exploration of two leaders in the Bible who used similar authority in utterly dissimilar ways. Through a blend of Scripture, research, storytelling, and reflection, Chole equips us to lead forward with integrity toward hope in whatever spaces we influence.

As a follower of God, you have authority (and a responsibility to steward it well) in every realm: at work and school, at home and with family, at church and in your community. Yes, humans leading humans will always be messy because imperfection is a given. But willful hurt is avoidable. In A Tale of Two Leaders, you'll examine seven contrasts in the lives of two biblical leaders and learn how to:

lead yourselves into submission to God so that you do not lead others into pain

maintain healthy levels of vulnerability and boundaries with those around you

identify patterns that help and patterns that hinder your service

surround yourselves with critical thinkers who weigh (more than are wowed by) your words and release your God-song over this generation!

Yes, we are wounded—but we do not have to be infected. May the pages of this book strengthen you to engage in the sacred work of leading and living well in the eyes of God.
